Abstract Information :
In this research, we wish to identify similarities and differences in GCxGC chromatograms for seeds from different countries and cultivars. GCxGC provides higher resolution data, which is key in identifying differences in these samples. Analysis of this data is complex for several reasons; it is multi-dimensional, there is background noise and the natural shift in retention time creates peak mis-alignment. We present a novel method of analysing this data, which relies on image processing techniques. This method is successful in distinguishing samples from blanks and detects similarities between countries and cultivar which cannot be easily identified through inspection of the chromatograms.
