Abstract Title: Drowning in Data – a smart, serviceable, scalable catchment solution for Section 82 Monitoring from Xylem
Presenter Name: Mr James Chapman
Company/Organisation: Xylem Water Solutions UK
Country: United Kingdom

Abstract Information :

The Water Industry has come a long way in the last 25 years! In the 90s we were focused on single spot test measurements with analogue instruments, fast-forward to the current day where we are focused on data, data, data - Requiring digital sensor data to be transmitted from remote river sites every 15 minutes for a multitude of water quality parameters displayed on a public facing interactive smart alarm catchment mapping system. Monitoring stations, installed as part of the Environment Act 2021 Section 82 requirements, will create millions of data points. With current best practice requiring water quality professionals to view multi-axis graphs on a daily basis, there is a demand to turn this data into actionable information. Complex data needs smart solutions, enabling accessible information for key stakeholders. Xylem will delve into a new approach to smart catchment monitoring, using smart alarms to analyse real-time water quality data, allowing quick & easy identification of issues relating to final effluent, stormwater discharge, farming practices or natural environmental events. We will also explore our digital twin AI capabilities with Xylem Vue helping to predict, prevent & control future CSO Spills.
