Although a growing set of evidence had shown the importance of tropical forests in the global mercury (Hg) cycle, Hg in soils and vegetation from the Amazonian rainforest has still been poorly studied specifically for methyl-mercury (MeHg). The aim of this work was then to determine total [THg] and [MeHg] concentrations in litter and surface soil, MeHg deposition by litterfall and MeHg removal due to forest fire in the Amazonian Forest.
