Mid Kent Water Selects Pall Corporation for Its Wichling Turbidity Removal Scheme

Pall Corporation announces that Mid Kent Water, United Kingdom, selects Pall Corporation for its Wichling Turbidity Removal Scheme.

Mid Kent Water Treatment Works, key output for Mid Kent Water (MKW), supplies up to 14 million litres of water per day to a population of around 26,500.

The feed water supply to this works has increasingly suffered from high turbidity levels of up to 30 NTU as a result of fine chalk particulates being drawn in from the aquifer, especially during periods of high rainfall and high pumping rates. The existing filtration plant, installed in 1998, was not able to meet MKW`s performance requirements. Coupled with high maintenance costs and excessive demands on staff time, MKW decided to review the process and conduct a study into available options to provide high quality, secure water for it`s customers. After piloting pre-qualified technologies, MKW selected Pall Corporation`s membrane filtration system equipped with Pall Microza organic hollow fiber modules, designed to deal with varied feed waters while maintaining a consistent quality and volume of pure drinking water.

Significant in MKW`s decision process to select Pall was the Pall Microza system`s flexibility for treating foulants, the small footprint allowing the system to stationed in the existing building the easy access to membrane modules, the robust integrity test procedures, the nil fibre failure rate, the support network and the comprehensive guarantees.

The membrane plant will maintain treated water turbidity below 0.1 NTU and also provide up to 6-log removal efficiency of Cryptosporidium oocysts should this become a problem in the future.
Including the Mid Kent Water Wichling plant, Pall Corporation has installed almost 350 systems worldwide providing safe clean drinking water from virtually all types of water.
