To provide educational opportunities to members and students.
Will take place prior to the Opening Ceremony.
Opportunities for side meetings will be explored and communicated to participants.

Opening Ceremony - Plenary Hall
Time : 18:15 - 19:45

Official start of the 15th ICMGP, Cape Town.
Dignitaries, government officials, industry partners and academia will be in attendance and participate in the ceremony.

Welcome Reception - ICC [free]
Time : 19:45 - 21:00

Follows after opening ceremony.
Informal function to provide delegates the opportunity to network with Hg experts, colleagues and friends, as well as meet new colleagues in the Hg fraternity.

Student Learning & Networking Event
Monday : 19:00 - 24:00 [free]

Open to students from across the world, to meet, socialize and network, while building lasting relationships in mercury research.
Strengthening the "north-south-north mercury legacy" in our future leaders in mercury research.

Lunch with Mentors
Tuesday : 12:30 - 13:30

A highlight for students and early career scientists, the lunch with mentors has been a success at every ICMGP.
Allows future Hg experts to seek advice and encouragement from leading Hg experts.

Special Recognition & Appreciation Function
Tuesday : 19:00 - 22:00

Special "Recognition and Appreciation" event for plenary speakers and members of the Scientific Steering Committee (SSC), as well as dignitaries and leading Hg experts.
Acknowledgment of their contributions towards the success of the conference.

Kathryn R Mahaffey Lifetime Achievement Award

Presented to a distinguished researcher in the mercury field.
Specialist panel of Hg experts to decide on the winner from nominations received.

Will include the major tourist attractions in Cape Town and its surrounding areas (e.g. Robben Island, Table Mountain National Park, GAW station, wine routes, etc.)
