LABTOP: A PRE-PURGED INTEGRATED PRESSURE REGULATOR VALVE
Pure gases and calibration mixtures used by laboratories and test houses for air quality emissions monitoring requires high quality and precision, whether the analysis is laboratory or field based. This paper will introduce LABTOP - a new concept that integrates the pressure regulator and valve and is dedicated to the Laboratories and Analysis market.
This presentation will highlight the advantages provided by LABTOP to those involved in air quality and emissions measurements:
Safety: protection of the LABTOP and pressure relief device with an open guard,
Ergonomics: integration of the pressure regulator in the valve with a specially designed hand-knob allowing easy operation of this valve and pressure control;
Gas handling:
Valve materials compatible with a wide range of reactive gases and mixtures;
Pre-purge function – Air Liquide patent – which will eliminate the requirement to purge the pressure regulator and allow it to be kept under a controlled atmosphere;
Cylinder preparation (and passivation) is performed with LABTOP at the same time following the same procedures; Therefore, Air Liquide knowledge in cylinder preparation, allowing gases conservation, could be extend to pressure regulator itself.
Mobility: LABTOP is mounted on a small cylinder (up to 11L) and is a complete, transportable and ready to use system for delivering gases (Note: LABTOP can also be fitted to larger cylinders).
In addition, we will also present stability and stabilization studies of the LABTOP versus classic cylinder/regulator arrangement for gas mixtures containing molecules such as HCl and NO2, which were conducted by the National Physical Laboratory (with gases supplied by Air Liquide).
