Abstract Information :
We will discuss the challenges associated with continuous measurement of reactive gases and how they can be overcome by using Direct Extractive Hot-Wet Multicomponent Infra-Red (IR) technology. A properly designed sampling system overcomes the issues related to condensation, chemical reactions, corrosion and particulate buildup. All surfaces coming into contact with the sample stream are maintained at temperatures above the acid dew-point temperature. Actual measurement of the gases is done using an innovative multicomponent IR approach that incorporates Gas Filter Correlation and Single Beam Dual Wavelength techniques. Direct measurement of the reactive gases is done without any converters. Chemometric algorithms are used to account for cross-interference from H2O and CO2. The pros and cons of other competing technologies like FTIR and Tunable Diode Lasers will be discussed. Finally, field performance results (data availability and comparison to EPA Reference Methods) will be presented.
