Abstract Information :

Several technologies are available to quantify Sulfur levels to certify finished petroleum products, each having its advantages. Historically, there has been a perception that UVF techniques, such as ASTM D5453, have better precision, particularly at lower levels of Sulfur, than XRF-based techniques such as D2622 and D7039. ASTM PTP data collected over the past few years for both the RFG and ULSD programs shows that XRF techniques have gained ground in terms of precision. With several methodology options for sulfur analysis available, refineries, terminals, and test inspection certification companies must take care to select a method that produces the least amount of variability while also providing the lowest operating costs, fastest cycles times and the highest ease of use. In this webinar, we will review the ASTM PTP data for ULSD and RFG to compare test methods D7039, D2622, and D5453. We will closely examine the reproducibility results of average Sulfur levels of approximately 5ppm to determine which test methods offer users the least variability when running measurements according to the three ASTM methods of interest.
