DHA and PIONA analysis by GC-FID, GC-MS and GC-VUV
DHA and PIONA are widely used in the Petrochemical application field. Both methods do show their limitations, with inaccurate output as result. Both methods can highly benefit from hyphenated techniques like Mass Spectrometry and Vacuum UV.
For DHA an example is shown, using FID for reporting and Mass Spectrometry for improved identification. FID, MS and DHA calculation/reporting are all integrated in a single software package, offering a very user friendly and robust workflow.
For PIONA two relative new methods are shown, one using MS and the second with Vacuum UV detection. In this presentation advantages, limitations and challenges for both methods are compared.
