Abstract Title: Monitoring of unconventional gas molecules to reduce costs of emissions treatment
Presenter Name: Mr Olivier Le Mauguen
Company/Organisation: Blue Industry and Science
Country: France

Abstract Information :

We present in detail a recent (2018-2019) case study at a factory in the fine chemicals/ pharmaceutical industry, for a system that continuously monitors concentrations of molecules that are specific to the factory's production. That factory was under stress because of issues in controlling its emissions of air pollutants. It has deployed new treatment units, and was looking for ways to enhance this system.

Based on an advanced laser source, the gas analyzers used for this factory monitor unconventional molecules (bromopropane, valeronitrile etc...). This monitoring is used in the control system of the factory and provides 2 main benefits:
- a drastic reduction in the use of active carbons, providing an ROI of less than 6 months for the monitoring solution
- a better control of the emissions thanks to continuous monitoring

The presentation will detail the context of the problem, the different phases of the project, the solutions found, the benefits.
