Abstract Title: | Innovative gas flow measurement using ultrasound technology – application possibilities & installation examples |
Presenter Name: | Mr Sven Holzbächer |
Company/Organisation: | SICK Engineering GmbH |
Country: | Germany |
Abstract Information :
Based on the technology, modern ultrasonic flow meters offer significant advantages for actual
and future demanding continuous emission monitoring:
- cross-duct integral measuring method,
- measurement results independent of gas conditions (density, moisture etc.),
- extended and easy-to-use diagnostic capabilities,
- high flow turndown, no pressure loss.
The ultrasonic sensor is the heart of a reliable measurement. Therefore optimum adaptation of
the sensor for a specific application is important for best meter performance. The presentation
describes innovative sensor solutions focused on challenging application conditions as seen in
wet and very hot gases for example.
Ensuring high reliability of measurement is as important as accurate measurement can still be
achieved, even with non-ideal installation conditions. Single probe solutions provide minimal
installation effort even in limited space. Multipath meter configurations can be solutions for better
compensation of profile disturbances.
Modern emission measurement and control also means early detection of required maintenance
or repair at an early stage, before the measurement is lost. The presentation will provide an
overview of actual diagnostic capabilities of ultrasonic technology and CEM systems (integrity
check).
Finally, individual device solutions for selected installations will be presented. These emphasize
the advantages of the latest ultrasonic technology for CEM flow measurement.
