Biography:

Paul Firth is an Emission Monitoring Technician, with over 32 Years in the Cement industry. Paul specialises in environmental monitoring, FT-IR and particulate testing, along with providing technical support at Tarmac Cement and Lime UK Plants. In the last few Years the role has broadened into a more general Environmental position which includes lead auditing for ISO 14001 and ISO 50001, data verifier and data supplier, for internal and external organisations.Elected as the Chairman of the STA Process Operators Group for 2018-2020, Paul was re-elected again in 2020, and will continue in this role until 2022

The presentation focuses on low particulate levels, the influences that particulate matter can have on automated measuring system (AMS) responses and covers some of the technical issues faced when looking to apply the Standard Reference Methods BS EN 13284-1 and BS EN 13284-2.
