Abstract Information :
Wireless communication, from sensors on the riverbed, direct to the riverbank. A completely wireless solution for Environment Act 2021 monitoring solves deployment and servicing challenges. Summary • EA21 requires large scale deployment of river water quality monitoring sensors • Many sites have complex installation requirements, particularly in urban settings where conventional monitoring solutions require buried cables between a riverside sensor system and riverbank cellular upload connection • Our innovative low frequency electromagnetic communications system allows water quality sensors placed on the riverbed to upload measurements directly to an upload station installed on the riverbank • The riverbed system can be rapidly deployed, and is invisible from the riverbank, avoiding theft or interference • When sensors require calibration, a wireless command sent from the riverbank initiates an airbag inflation to bring the submerged equipment to the surface for maintenance without entering the water • Without a connecting cable, the riverside system can be installed anywhere within a 200m range of the submerged sensor and a single topside station can communication with both upstream and downstream sensor locations Case study • CSignum present a case study water quality installation, based on the CSignum EM-2 wireless modem
