Abstract Title: Monitoring the wastewater network
Presenter Name: Jacqueline Diaz-Nieto
Company/Organisation: Yorkshire Water
Country: United Kingdom

Abstract Information :

The draft WISER (water industry strategic environmental requirements) and Environment Bill communicate the intention for water companies to embrace technology and use more machine learning and artificial intelligence to drive process improvements to reduce pollution incidents and develop targeted solutions. In addition to the EDM (event duration monitoring) programme, Yorkshire Water has had early versions of smart systems using EDM to inform a pollution predictor, and more recently have evolved to use sophisticated AI which couples rainfall data with EDM to provide an early warning system for blockage formation. In AMP6 Yorkshire Water also embarked on a journey of sewer monitoring at property level to prevent flooding and pressure monitoring for early warning of rising main bursts.
