Abstract Title: Mobile Leak Detection Eco system
Presenter Name: Dr Michael Kleimann
Company/Organisation: ABB AG
Country: Germany

Abstract Information :

The presentation will include examples how the ABB Mobile Leak Detection Eco system could be used to recognize Methane emissions. It describes the applied technology and the reporting of the measurements. Incorporating the latest advances in sensing, analytics, and mobile technologies, our methane detection solutions overcome the disadvantages of traditional methods to offer the highest levels of stability and performance needed to satisfy EU and OGMP2.0 requirements. Based on Off-Axis Integrated Cavity Output Spectroscopy (OA-ICOSTM) technology, ABB's AbilityTM advanced natural gas leak detection allow unambiguous detection of methane emissions and natural gas leaks many meters from the source. By combining multiple lasers into a single system, measurements of both methane and ethane may be measured with extremely high sensitivity. Innovative algorithms based on gas plume dispersion and artificial intelligence (AI) combine the gas concentration measurements to reliably detect, locate, attribute, and quantify gas leak sources with unsurpassed reliability, enabling users to find virtually all leaks (large, small, and hidden), prioritize necessary repairs, and meet regulatory requirements economically. MobileGuard™ ABB’s MobileGuard™ is a vehicle-mounted system that makes use of an OA-ICOS™ gas analyzer, as well as an ultrasonic anemometer for measuring wind speed, and a GNSS antenna for measuring location. HoverGuard™ One of the challenges of detecting methane leaks from pipelines or hard-to-reach assets is that it can be difficult to get anywhere near the source. ABB’s HoverGuard™ meets this challenge by passing an airborne analyzer through the diffused methane plume. Operating on a UAV, it offers a fast, low-cost and safe method for identifying potential leakage points and allows access to otherwise inaccessible areas. HoverGuard offers a much less costly alternative to aircraft-based or satellite-based analyzers and can also work at much lower heights. MicroGuard™ For conducting surveys on foot, ABB offers its MicroGuard™ solution, which uses the same ultrasensitive detection technology as MobileGuard™ and HoverGuard™. With highly accurate and easily usable detection systems, organizations that need to identify, report, and rectify methane leaks now have the tools at their disposal to play a role in reducing the effect of this significant greenhouse gas and help ensure a better environment for everyone.
