Level controllers have been widely used by the water industry for over 30 years. Their early incarnations were predominantly used for level alarms and autonomous, automated pump control. As time went on, they became more integrated into SCADA systems and the pump control functionality became of secondary importance. However, AMP8 will bring monitoring challenges within remote pumping stations. Some CSO’s will require Class 1 MCERTS for regulatory EDM applications and particularly ESO’s. This offers end users the opportunity to revive autonomous level control and the forgotten functions and features these controllers, as well as utilising some new features in the latest SITRANS LT500 level controller. Here we present what these features are and demonstrate why the SITRANS LT500 is the only level controller you will need for UMON3/4 and 6 in AMP8.
