Abstract Information :

Southern Water have installed 12 Intellitect Intellisondes, and 50 novel ATi MetriNets in a cluster of strategic locations and smaller downstream areas of the water distribution network, at Rownhams in Hampshire. This is feeding data directly into an innovative analytics platform providing the Water Company an holistic and real time view of numerous water quality performance parameters across 24 District Meter Areas.

The complementary use of both types of data collection systems, feeding into the online analytics platform has not yet been deployed on this scale by any other UK Water Company. The 12 month trial aims to support the development of real time monitoring of key water quality parameters in the distribution system. This information will provide additional resilience in the SWS water quality monitoring regime. This project is Southern Water's first step towards the establishment of a self-managing smart water network and will inform strategic implementation throughout the next AMP and beyond.
