Abstract Information :

Today, Karl-Fischer-titration is one of the most important methods of water determination in the petroleum industry. Most of the commercial or routine laboratories depend on it whilst modern international standards can't be realised without it. Meanwhile, Karl-Fischer-titration is used in all fields and for all kind of petrochemical products.

During the presentation, new ideas and principles of Karl-Fischer-titration and the application to different kinds of petrochemical products are described. The concept of AQUA 40.00 and QubiTest KF coulometric titrators are unique and the advantages for petrochemical products are clear. Our product line is suitable for use in the laboratory with automation, for on-site/mobile testing and online-monitoring.

The Aqua 40 with Closed Loop Oil Evaporator is perfect for synthetic oils and viscous samples that are difficult to inject directly into a measuring cell or contain additives that create huge interference of the result and stability of the instrument. The described examples will demonstrate that the unique heating techniques with closed loop gas circulation, combined with fast and reliable coulometric titration means, we can answer additional questions, such as bonding strength and origin of the water.

We have launched a new on-line coulometric Karl Fischer Titrator which is perfect for those hydroscopic samples like Naphtha which provide untrue and unreliable water readings once transported back to the laboratory for analysis.

Meanwhile, the Aqua 40 with LPG/Gas Module has been an outstanding product in tests with our colleagues at ASTM for water in LPG or DME and associated task forces.

We will be discussing how the Aqua 40 combats these application problems and how they are used in the laboratory, on site and even, on-line. It is our focus to understand these issues and create user friendly methods and products that serve the petroleum industry.

ECH Elektrochemie halle GmbH have been established since 1992 developing many techniques we now take for granted in petroleum testing.
