Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) technology has been proven to be a very effective tool for locating small leaks and fugitive emissions in petroleum refineries. With the development of smaller, faster, and cheaper fenceline monitoring technologies, it has become apparent to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other agencies around the world, that fenceline monitoring can be part of a holistic plan to reduce air emissions.
This presentation will review emerging fenceline monitoring technologies. It will discuss ways of incorporating these newly developed fenceline monitors, along with fixed and portable optical gas imaging (OGI) cameras, into advanced smart leak detection and repair (LDAR) programs. This combined approach may replace traditional LDAR programs as they provide a much more efficient strategy for reducing air pollutants and emissions of greenhouse gases.
