Jerome has a background of technical Engineer in Applied Physics and Instrumentation. Since 2002, he was able to develop strong technical and sales skills in gas analysis instrumentation and also complete monitoring Systems through its involvement in various departments of ENVEA company such as project engineering, R&D and Sales. After several years taking care of Europe and Africa, Jerome is now the Area Manager of ENVEA for India covering both Ambient Air and Continuous Emission Monitoring business units.
In December 2015, the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change announced tighter emission standards for coal-based thermal power plants (TPP’s). The new standards aimed to drastically reduce the emissions of SO2, NOx, PM and Mercury for those industries.
Accordingly the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has set a roadmap for the plants to install pollution abatement technologies – so called FGD and DeNOx.
As per the CEA’s revised plan for TPP’s in India, FGD systems are to be installed on the identified 414 existing Units for 161 GW of total power capacity by the year 2022. And the deadline for compliance to the new NOx emission standards is going to be issued within a short period.
This challenging implementation plan must be supported by the availability of necessary monitoring instruments to optimize and control on real-time basis the efficiency of the installed pollution abatement technologies.
This presentation will provide an overview of the available gas CEMS technologies applicable to FGD and DeNOx efficiency control. Both extractive and in situ type gas CEM technologies will be covered, including dilution based and TDL.
It will also include some case studies for various abatement technologies, with some guidelines for proper gas CEMS selection.
