Abstract Title: Gas CEMS in Indian regulatory framework: Guidelines for Technologies & Selection Criteria
Session Choice: Continuous Emission Monitoring
Presenter Name: Mr Jerome Laplagne
Company/Organisation: Environnement S.A. - France
Country: France

Abstract Information :

A gas CEMS (Continuous Emission Monitoring System) is comprised of the total equipment necessary to determine gas concentration or emission rate using specific analytical measurements and a computer program to produce results in units compliant to the applicable standard.

The ongoing requirements from CPCB on gas CEMS for the 17 Categories of highly polluting Industries and common Hazardous / Biomedical waste incinerators enable the introduction in Indian Market of a wide range of instrument technologies, which are not always differentiable by the buyers in term of technical advantages, limitations as well as long term operational benefits.

Moreover, the recent notice published by CPCB requesting gas CEMS suppliers to submit details of certification of their instruments by TUV and MCERTS highlights the influence of current European regulations into the future Indian certification scheme.

This presentation will provide an overview including advantages/limitations of the available gas CEMS technologies for the concerned measuring parameters, in US but also and mainly in Europe where QAL1 approval according EN standards is required. Both extractive and in situ type gas CEM technologies will be covered, including dilution based and the latest ones such as TDL /FTIR.

An important concern will be also raised on the issues of continuous Quality Control of the gas CEM, as well as Data Validation and Management based on the Indian requirement for real time communication with central server at CPCB.
