Abstract Information :
CEMS guidelines were introduced by CPCB in February 2014, the industrial implementation has taken a toll under the non-availability of know how about the technologies available and technology suitable for specific industries. The installations going wrong in terms of location and technology are the general observations, during the industrial visits by CSE. The objective of using CEMS system as a compliance tool would be achieved only after the introduction of Indigenous certification system for CEMS and certification of labs to enable proper calibration of the systems installed in the industry.
The presentation will majorly focus on the case studies of various industrial sectors related to CEMS installations and challenges and way forward to enable proper implementation of continuous emission monitoring system. The major issues observed in various industries have been in-adequate knowledge and skills- technology selection, installation, operation & maintenance, data supply, no means to check data accuracy, no quality assurance- neither certification nor performance check during installation
and no lab accreditation/ empanelment.
