Abstract Information :

Air pollution regulations are becoming tighter in many countries, with regulatory focus on the continuously validated measurements of emissions. Not surprisingly, these increased emissions regulations mean increased compliance costs for operations. In order to guarantee availability and remove the burden of knowledge from customer maintenance personal, ABB gas analyzers are very often maintained embracing a preventive maintenance strategy, where periodical inspection and service interventions are performed for to reduce breakdown and enhance equipment life. ABB Ability™ Advances digital services can help strengthening the benefits of preventive maintenance and aid the shift from preventive to predictive maintenance. ABB Ability™ offerings for gas analyzers encompasses: • ABB Ability™ Remote Assistance for measurement devices • Dynamic QR Code assistance for analyzers • ABB Ability™ Condition Monitoring for measurement devices The ABB Ability™ Remote Assistance for measurement devices is an advanced service aimed at improving customer experience for technical support. With respect to classical technical support delivered over the phone, ABB Ability™ Remote Assistance for measurement devices enables authorized ABB experts to log into an industrial grade gateway on-site and connect to the analyzer. In case remote connection is not available, DQR Code assistance for analyzers is a product feature that provides comprehensive diagnostics and a real-time health check of an analytic system without any need for training or connectivity. For any inquiry, customers can generate a QR code which will be displayed in the analyzers display. Such QR code contains all the necessary data to enable an ABB expert to perform troubleshooting and can be send to ABB via mail or via a dedicated mobile app, i.e. myIB App. For such a reason, DQR Code assistance for analyzers expedites ABB’s service response to make sure ABB manufactured assets stay online and production keeps running. A newly launched digital service product designed to provide real time data on the condition of installed devices is the ABB Ability™ Condition Monitoring for measurement devices. Such product enables to check and keep track of the health of ABB measurement devices by providing health check reports to customers and ABB experts. Based on these data, ABB experts can provide service recommendations to save maintenance costs. The most common and direct way to benefit from remote services is using data to identify issues at early stage, while there is still time to take actions. This service is even more important if applied to gas analyzers that play a critical role in process control and analyzers for environmental emission monitoring, as well as for analyzers in inaccessible locations, like for marine, offshore, or mining applications. Health check can be performed at scheduled intervals to collect real-time data about operating parameters. ABB specialists evaluate those data against established performance benchmarks to provide service recommendations. Findings can lead to specific maintenance activities necessary to avoid unexpected stoppages due to excessive deterioration of critical components. Problems like worn components can be resolved during scheduled maintenance visit or plant shut-down before an actual failure happens. Such portfolio of advanced services will help operators keeping emission monitoring system accurate and available at lower cost.
