Abstract Title: SAQN: harnessing STFC capabilities for novel research
Presenter Name: Dr Sarah Moller
Company/Organisation: University of York
Country: United Kingdom

Abstract Information :

The Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) Air Quality Network (SAQN) aims to explore the application of STFC capabilities to air quality research, building a new community of users for STFC’s world class facilities and services, and engaging STFC scientists, fostering new collaborations to apply STFC expertise to this priority research area. Since its inception in 2019, the network has grown to over 400 members and has developed new collaborations involving STFC, industry, policy makers and air pollution researchers.
This talk will introduce the work of the SAQN, including how you can get involved and future opportunities. The SAQN awards funding for small scale scoping studies that offer the opportunity to develop innovative, sometimes risky research ideas, which will benefit air quality research and develop the capabilities of STFC. It is expected that these projects will, if successful, lead to significant follow-on proposals to develop the research ideas to their full potential. A selection of the funded studies will be presented to demonstrate what the network does and highlight areas where there may be emerging opportunities to engage.
