Abstract Title: Ingenious Project - Indoor Air Quality Monitoring in Homes
Presenter Name: Ms Lia Chatzidiakou
Company/Organisation: Cambridge University
Country: United Kingdom

Abstract Information :

The INGENIOUS (understandING the sourcEs, traNsformations and fate of IndOor air pollUtantS) project has been initiated (https://ingenious.york.ac.uk/) to provide the necessary evidence for efficient behavioural, technological or policy interventions to reduce future air pollution UK hosehold exposures.
The project is conducted in Bradford. A total of 320 families were recruited (March 2023- April 2024) from the Born in Bradford (BiB) cohort.
We collect a comprehensive database of building characteristics, behavioural patterns, health responses (and social variables), and a time-activity diary. In each household, we monitor three rooms (living room, kitchen, child’s bedroom) for two weeks with commercially available low-cost sensors AirGradient that measure and transmit (5 min average intervals) air pollution data to a secure server through a cellular connection provided by the research team. The AirGradient platform contains a series of sensors to measure carbon dioxide, three size fractions of PM concentration (PM1, PM2.5, PM10 ); total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs); and temperature and relative humidity. An outdoor air pollution network is distributed around the Bradford area to capture the spatial variability of outdoor levels in the urban environment. This presentation presents preliminary results investigating factors affecting household exposure to air pollution.
