Abstract Information :
The Forth Environmental Resilience Array (Forth-ERA) is a living laboratory providing environmental data and analytics, which aims to facilitate world-leading scientific research, promote more efficient environmental management and regulation, and stimulate business innovation in support of Scotland’s transition to a net zero carbon society. Forth-ERA crosscuts many environmental themes including flooding, biodiversity and air quality, and will culminate in the creation of a “one-stop-shop for environmental data” by developing a web-hosted platform for all environmental data collected as part of the project.
The Forth-ERA air quality theme objectives include to: 1) Deploy a co-designed (with stakeholders) indoor (n = ~100 sensors) and outdoor (n = 20 sensors) air quality monitoring network in Stirlingshire and Clackmannanshire; 2) Explore community air quality priorities using online participatory approaches and use this as the basis for deploying sensors (n = 10) that address their priorities; 3) Create an online digital repository for air quality data, presented in meaningful ways for a variety of stakeholders (e.g., local authorities, Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA), community groups and the public); 4) Identify and explore ways to use the collected air quality data to support policy and behaviour changes.
We will present an update on our progress, share initial findings and reflect on what we have learnt so far in terms of combining stakeholder and community engagement with cutting-edge air quality research.
